The car has a new battery. When I try to start the engine, there is nothing. No sound at all. The headlights work when I turn them on, but no response when I turn the key in the ignition. I tried moving the gearshift from "park" to "neutral" and tried starting the engine in both. Nothing. No click or anything. I am not mechanically inclined so I really don't know what to look for. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have the starter tested. Could be a bad solenoid. More often than not, if you dont hear the click, its the solenoid. Or, you dont have power to either, check the wiring from the bat to the starter then back.
