Brakes problem
1990 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have always had trouble with the rear brakes getting hot on this car. They even smoke after driving a few miles. Every year I have to replace the rear calipers. No matter what I do I have the same problem.I just replaced the rear calipers, rotors and pads. Still have the same problem. The emergency brake cables are not hooked up, so that isn't the problem.

Nice design huh?

Gm had sent out reimbursements for repairs to this poor design. Assuming the calipers are okay. And that may be a stretch, you need to see if the calipers are not returning. Moisture Contaminated brake fluid can boil and keep the calipers engaged.

What I would do is drive it, jack up the back, sping the wheel to see if it is locked up. IF so, open the bleeder and see if the wheel will now spin. If it does, flush the brake fluid. If it doesn't, get calipers.
Most have a lifetime warranty.
