2001 Chevy Impala hard shift

Transmission shifts hard and radical after 200 to 300 miles. Wife says it shifts hard in town with normal driving. Had the trans flushed last year.

Sounds like a bad PC solenoid in the transmission.

Is that internal or external, and can a person with some aptatude replace it or is it for a shop machanic?

I would really recommend having a shop do the repair.
