A/C Climate Control Cabin Air Flow

I have a problem with my 2.2 L 1999 Cavalier/Sunfire.

The A/C air is coming out of the foot vents, the regular dash board vents and defrost vents regardless of where the Control Knob is turned.

I am guessing an Actuator of some sort but is it the Dash Control Knob or down by the Flapper in the Duct System?

Is this vacuumed or electronically controlled? What has to come off to have access to the problem part?

My nieces Cavalier has the same issue, two birds with one stone here!

Does anyone know where free access to schematics are?

Regards
Terry

I believe on all cavaliers the AC system, And heating system is controlled by vaccum rubber lines, In which when a leak or broke hose causes problems for the selector vent options, Also could be a switch problem as well.

Good Luck.

Found the problem. It is the MODE actuator for the louver. It came off its mount.

It is the one located on the driver’s side of the air duck in the center of the dash.

Fortunately we did have to disassemble the entire dash but did have to remove the upper portion of the dash along with the pass. Air bag and duck it was attached to.
