Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Automatic 150200 miles

Last night I was driving and once I released the pedal after accelerating up a hill my car continued to rev and accelerate. I tried to pull up the petal, no response from the engine, so I killed the motor and stopped the car. I then started it up a few minuets later only to have it do the same thing upon start up, revving continuously as though I was pressing the accelerator, though I had not. Again, I killed the motor and had it towed back to my home a half a mile away. What could cause this?

Check and see if the throtle plates are sticking. Do you have a check engine light. You may have a bad idle air control motor

My check engine light has always been on when I start the car and could not be diagnosed by two different mechanics. I'll check the throttle plates in the morning then, its cold and dark now.

Thanks for your help.

I have misplaced my Hayes manuel for the car, where would be the place to look for it (throttle)?
