95 Camaro smells hot

I have a 95 Camaro v6 340L with 110K miles.
upon starting the car and running for as little as 1/2 mile, the car smells hot. When checking under the hood there is smoke or steam coming from the engine block.
I recently (with the forums advice) replaced the thermostat and coolant.(Thanks for that advice, it fixed the problem). I have also had problems with oil pressure and have had that check by a mechanic at Firestone, they suggested adding Lucas oil in which I did and that may have corrected that problem.
Any ideas?

Subject: 95 camaro runs hot
Thank you so much for the information.
I replaced the thermostat and that has fixed the problem.
The car has been running with a temp of 180 to 200 degrees and now that it is getting cold, has good heat.
Thanks again
Carol
