The distributor cap on my 1999 blazer reads 3, 1, 5 on the driver's side and 2, 4, 6 on the passenger side. Do these numbers correspond with the spark plug wires?

If your not sure have a professional do it or purchase a repair manual. If you try it your self make sure you make the plug wires and cap to ensure the correct firing order

Hi, my partsbook showed two different style caps. the cap in the picture, has hold-down screws, one on eack side of cap. If you don't see anything holding the rotor, just pull up on it.

You can number the spark plug towers and plug wires, with tape or something, number 1 through six around the cap. When you go back with new cap, get the plug wires in the same position on the new cap.

My distributor cap caught on fire becuse the coil wire wasnt connected all the way for some reason. I bought a new cap but I think I put the wires on the wrong way. Is there any way you could let me know the right order to connecte the plug wires?

Bring number one cylinder up to top dead center on the compression stroke. The distributer rotor will be pointing at the number one wire contact on the distributer cap. This is number one. The next contact is the next cylinder in the firing order.
OR you can just buy a repair manual and the cap numbers along with the firing order will be in the text. Make sure the wires are pushed all the way in.

I have done a complete tune up checked everywhere wire and plug replaced distributor cap and rotor button, New starter, alternator and battery. My truck will crank but wont turn over I checked the fuel line has pressure. What I am thinking is its fuel related. I had a buddy who works for advanced auto put car cleaner in the intake and after that my truck stopped working. I think since its fuel injected he might have clogged my injectors.

Did he put the cleaner in before or after you changes the spark plugs?

Check the plugs to see if they are gummed up or wet with the cleaner of gasoline (if they are too wet the engine will not start).

Also, check for a spark at two or more spark plugs wires.

What is the name of the cleaner he used? Why did you truck need cleaner in the first place? Were you having problems, before the cleaner was used?

He did it just to help it run smoother. And I have not checked the plugs yet I replaced them last week. Ive been told timing, Fuel injectors, Spider injectors or fuel pressure system could be wrong. I just dont know why it would stop after putting in the cleaner. What should I do?

I was thinking that the cleaner fouled the spark plugs. Have you changed or checked the spark plugs since the engine stopped running?

while driving my blazer s10 it completely stopped, I check the carburator and it's getting gas, it's also getting power from the starter coil, it stopped twice already could it be something wrong with the distributor cap or spark plug wires.
I have not done a tune up for a while

Cranks over no start do below

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

1. Try cleaning the spark plugs.
2. Use a small file to lightly file the surfaces in the gap of the spark plug. This will provide a good grounding point for the spark once the plugs are installed.
3. Regap them.
4. While you have the spark plugs out, take out the FUEL PUMP and INJECTOR fuses and the spin the engine over to clear the fuel from the cylinder.
5. Reinstall the spark plugs, and both fuses.
6. Try starting the vehicle.

My truck was "cutting out", so I replaced the fuel filter and verified it was receiving fuel. Still "cutting out", I tested and got a code for EGR and distributor fault. Replaced the distributor cap, rotary button, spark plugs and wires. Same result. What's my next step?

I have the vortek 4.3 engine and today when I was on my way to work coming to a stop it just decided to die without warning. I was able to restart it after I tried turning it on about 3 times after about 5 minutes. It has night been starting up rite away on the first turn either it starts 2nd or 3rd turn. Then at stops it idles real high and doesn't want to stop sometimes. Has new fuel filter, ignition, alternator, distributor cap, spark plugs and fuel filter.
