I got the book on this blazer. Everything went sweet as hell until I had to remove the distributor itself. I marked where the rotor went. And there is no need to mark the distributor because there is a spread pin for the hold down. (It is the ECI) I believe, not the HEI. Also I believe the vin has the W? In it? All I know is, this isnt like the 4.3s with TBI. I am just looking for any tricks people may know. I have 1.5hrs invested into this so far. I have the plenum off, valve covers off, lower intake manifold off, and finally got my hands on a powersteering pump puller. Removed the pulley, and now I have the alternator bracket, and powersteering pump removed. 2morrow I will remove the ac compressor bracket. Just looking for any tips. Also, when I removed the distributor, I did have the timing marks aligned so cyl. 1 was at TDC. I know these are easy, but im outside, and its cold, haha any tricks would be helpful thankyou!

Really for a job like that I wouldnt suggest doing any tricks or short cuts. You mainly want to make sure it is done correctly and everything is cleaned up good so there is no issues when you go to start. But if you have any question on how to do something let me know I will help you out any way I can.

The only other question I have is how to torque the head bolts without a dial indicator? The previous year would be torqued to 65ft lbs, just wondering why I couldnt do that on this?

To be honest I never really used a dial indicator until I went to a dealer. How many degrees does it say to go? Do you think you can estimate it?

I cant remember perfectly, but its like 55degrees on the small bolts 60 or 65 on the medium length bolts, and 65 or 70 on the long bolts. After they are all torqued to 22ft lbs is when they want u to use the dial indicator.
