Loosen the gas cap, make sure there is no pressure on the fuel system, usually after the vehicle sits overnight without the key being cycled, there isn't much pressure, double check about the pressure though.

Threaded on one end, quick connect fitting on the other. I have used needle nose pliers to get the fitting loose. It's probably best to use the proper tool, the autostores sell them.
