Okay when I start my car it fires right up. The problem is when I shift if into drive the speedometer races up and the check engine light comes on, then the car dies. If you can help me I would really appreciate it. Im lost and confused with the problem.

Hi:

When you put the car in drive, does it move?

Yes it moves but when I give it alittle gas the mph gage races up faster then the car is moving then the check engine light comes on then the car dies. It does the same in reverse.

Is it possible that the trans is slipping? I may have you take it to a trans shop to allow them to review.

Hi:
It could be the speed sensor. I looked over our conversation and didn't ask if you have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Have you done that? I not, I recommend that you take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan it. Most of these places will do it for free.

Let me know what you find. Also, when the speedo goes faster than the car is going, does the engine sound like it's racing?
