2003 Chevy Avalanche engine light

I just bought this truck used. The engine light came on and the oil life says 2%. We checked the oil and put some in, the level is fine. I think maybe the oil needs changed but hope it is not something major. No smells or sounds being made. Any input?

First thing I need you to do is go to a auto parts like auto zone and have them scan your car for codes. When you get them post the numbers.I would also get a oil change sounds like you need one. Let me know what you find.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
