Transmission problem
1998 Chevy Astro 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

98 Chevy Astro with 217,000 miles. Transmission operates normally and shifts smoothly until sustained speeds are driven. Then it revs higher and shifts very harshly. This continues until the engine is turned off even for a very short time, then the cycle starts over. Seems to be worse with warmer weather but I don't think it's an overheating issue because it doesn't cool down after only shutting off the engine for a few minutes. Could it be pressure build up?

I had pressure build up so I changed my fluid. Is your fluid bad? It should be pink if not chang it and see if that helps. Could be a slipped or warn gear also.

I have a 01 asto and while driving my spring in-line with my throttle cable was sticking open while I was driving. Its a easy check. My van would idle high even when I parked it and it would shift hard.
