69-70 Ford 302 Windsor small block
following 2CarPros YouTube rebuild of ford 302 and for the cam selection.
I chose a milder summit cam SUM-1799:
Summit Racing™ Camshafts SUM-1799
Camshaft, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 261/261, Lift.456/.456, Ford, Small Block, Each

But it's backordered for way too long of time.
Don't see other summit cam with the specs.

So is the Comp Cam:
COMP Cams 31-216-2 - COMP Cams High Energy Camshafts
Part Number: CCA-31-216-2

a reasonable replacement?

The COMP Cams 31-216-2 High Energy Camshaft you mentioned can be a suitable replacement for the Summit Racing camshaft you initially selected. Here's a breakdown of the specifications for both camshafts:

Summit Racing Camshaft (SUM-1799):

Advertised Duration: 261/261
Lift:.456/.456
COMP Cams High Energy Camshaft (CCA-31-216-2):

Advertised Duration: Not specified (you may want to check with the manufacturer for this information)
Lift: Not specified (you may want to check with the manufacturer for this information)
The COMP Cams High Energy Camshafts are designed to offer improved performance over stock camshafts while still maintaining a relatively mild profile. Since the exact specifications for the COMP Cams camshaft you mentioned are not provided, it would be beneficial to contact COMP Cams directly or consult their catalog to ensure that it meets your requirements.

Regarding the cylinder heads, the FloTek 185cc Small Block Ford Thumper Cylinder Heads should work well with either camshaft. These heads are designed to provide improved airflow and performance for small block Ford engines.

It's important to note that when selecting a camshaft, it's crucial to consider the entire combination of your engine, including factors such as compression ratio, intake manifold, exhaust system, rear-end gear ratio, and vehicle weight. It's recommended to consult with a knowledgeable engine builder or camshaft specialist who can assist you in choosing the best camshaft for your specific application.

Additionally, it's always a good idea to refer to the manufacturer's recommendations and specifications to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.
