2001 Cadillac EL Dorado trunk release

The power trunck release does not work on the dash or on the remote. I have checkled the vault button and it is off. Also the doors open and so does the gas tank door from the remote

May be the actuator in the trunk. Open it with the key, now try both the dash button and remove. Test for power with a DVOM, if no power check the fuse, if there is power, the acuator needs to be replaced.

I have tried what you said and get no power to the sol. All other Items hooked to that fuse work is there a relay in there some where that could be the problem?

It is that trunk release motor fond that it sticks ever os often I have lubed it but am sure it will need replace some day soon

You my name mond jones I had locked my car keys in my trunk of a cadillac Eldorado 2001. The truck release dont work. It shuts to latch on but wont close fully.I dont know if I could or can go thru the back seats to get back there! Is there any other way instead of breaking it cause I darn sure cant afford a locksmith right now but I need my car

You would need to cut out the bulkhead and then weld it back in once you retrieved the keys if you tried to go through the seat. Your best bet would be to call a locksmith, they can use the VIN number to cut a key to open it with no damage. You just need to show proof of ownership and ID. In the long run it would be much cheaper. Plus you would have a spare key to open it if this happens again.
