It appears that your does not have a cabin air filter. If you had a 2003 or older you have one. this video and guide will show you how to change it out.

PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT
This Article has been updated by bulletin #PIT3330, dated December 22, 2004.

Condition/Concern:
A customer may inquire about the availability of the passenger compartment air filter.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Starting in 2003 model year, the passenger compartment air filter is no longer available as a factory option. With the redesigned HVAC case, there is no longer a cavity for the filter. The GM parts catalog indicates there is a replacement filter available; however, there is no provision for it.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Hi there ,

GM stopped using cabin air filters in 2003 and up. I attached a warranty article from GM below.

However, here is a video to show you how to do the filters if your truck is so equipped.

1.If equipped, remove the IP sound insulator.
2.Remove the filter access door screw.
3.Remove the filter access door (1) from the HVAC module.
4.Remove the passenger compartment air filter (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT

Remove the instrument panel hush panel.
Remove the filter access door screw.
Remove the filter access door from the HVAC module.
Remove the passenger compartment air filters.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Install the passenger compartment air filters.
Install the filter access door to the HVAC module.

Install the filter access door screw.

Tighten
