I have a 1990 buick lesabre with 162,000 miles and it is stumbleing and idleing poorly. It started out mild, just stumbling when the accelerator was lightly press(trying to maintain a constant speed) and would go away when I accelerated or took my foot completely off. Now it has started to stumble throughout the rpm range and while idling. The outside temp/weather isn't a factor and the spark plugs/wires were replaced at about 125,000.

Sorry for the late reply.

Usually with idle issues, you check for a leak of some kind. Fuel--egr--vacuum, something like that. Also, clean the throttle body, check and clean idle air system.

Check applicable trouble codes. Your obd1 so you should be able to check some codes, yourself. To check codes, use a jumper wire between the A & B terminals at the data link connector, should be located lower edge of dash. Then turn key just till the dash lites come on, no further. Then the mil on the dash starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

I realize this is an old post. You may no longer own this vehicle. In the future hope you don't have any vehicle issues, but, if you do, keep the site in mind. They are always working to improve the site and it's free.

Have a good day.
