If I put my car in reverse and back up, there is a jolting and a very noticable thud that takes place. If I warm the engine for at least three minutes, it does not happen. This has been going on for about four years intermittenly. What is making that happen? Thank you.

Hi,
Well this could be a couple things.
1=trans mount or eng mount allowing excessive movement.and a clunk.
2=internal trans prob with the reverse clutch.
i would check the mounts really good..
