For the last couple of months my car has been making moderate squeeking noises whenever I step on the brakes!

You need to have someone on the outside listening while you drive past them and make the noise happen. Once the wheel is determined, it will then need to have the wheel pulled off and the brakes checked for anything abnormal or the sensor rubbing on the rotor indicating a brake job is in order.
