Was driving alone when a bang and smoke and it stalled on me to a stop. Upon checking I have a four inch split in the top radiator pipe.

Replace both of the radiator hoses, then run a pressure check on the cooling system to be sure nothing else is leaking. The hose may have simply failed from age and the constant pressure in the system. The pressure test will show if there is another problem.

Check both heater hoses also, Have radiator cap pressure tested it might be faulty. A dye can be placed in cooling system and hard to find leaks can be detected with a black light, head gasket, hose connections, heater core, radiator etc.

Likely cheaper to repair what you have. Find a good head and go from there.

Engine swaps these days can be a PIA when you discover that the wiring and controls all have to be changed or discover that the trans you have doesn't work with the "new" engine.

Sorry to hear that. Always seems like something has to cause a problem. Can you see where the leak is? Hope it's nothing more than a bad clamp or failed connector. Good Luck. Keep us informed.
