Twice now, while driving, my car starts braking on its own. When it does, the brakes are pulsing as if I'm pumping the brake pedal and the car feels like it's bucking. The second time it happened, when it stopped pulsing it would start pulsing again when I applied the brakes so I started using the parking brake to slow or stop and no pulsing. So, I determined it was a problem with the front brakes. I checked the calipers and they're not seized nor are the pads or rotors bad. Could this be a problem with the ABS Control Module and how do I check?

Hi,

This is called an ABS event. The ABS pump is turning on and pulsing your brakes like that. If you don't have the ABS light on or any codes in the system, then we need to monitor the speed sensor data in the ABS module and see what they are saying. Normally when this happens it is because the ABS thinks one or more of the wheels is slipping and it is pulsing the others so regain traction. Clearly, you are not slipping when this happens so we need to figure out why the ABS module thinks something like this is happening in order to activate the module. Worst case is it is the ABS module itself.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks
