Warning light at bottom of center console

1998 BMW 740 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 151000 miles
Recently a yellow light came on at the bottom of my center console accompanied by a constant dinging sound. I can't find anything in the manual and I can't figure out what the warning is ... if you know what it is please advise. -Thanks

Do you have park distance control? The fault may lay in the sensor(s) One or more may have been damaged. A short test would tell more, this is what the dealer uses as a diagnostic reference and would guide the diagnostic/repair procedure.
