1987 BMW 325 The radiator fan

I was driving the car and heard what sounded like a clanking sound just continuous clink clink clink clink, so I pulled over to the side of the road and saw that the fan behind the radiator was wobbleing and was hitting up against the radiator, my father in law had just replaced the water pump, he's pretty busy so he can't look at it but I was just wondering if something came loose or well just if you could help me. Thank you

He may have not gotten the bolts tight on the water pump pulley. I only know this because it happened to me one time and I did not catch it before it got out the door, I think something distracted me, it could happen to anyone. Don't drive until you get it repaired or you will have a LARGE problem to deal with rather than a small inconvenience.
