At idle, the engine revs, hi-lo,hi-lo, once you accelerate or put it in drive, it smooths out. At any given time it may refuse to start at all, or it starts hard and then stalls. At other times it will run smoothly and then returns to same problem. It is getting sufficiant fuel pressure at all these times. When it doesnt start, the fuel pressure backs up and has caused leaking at every joint in the fuel line (which is now fully replaced) I am happy to donate if I can get help with this but I have so far "donated" to 3 mechanics and am running out of money to put out for more guesses. Thank you

The idle control unit and idle control valve are suspect here and unfortunately a bit expensive. 13-41-1-707-395 is the part number for the valve and 13-41-1-286-133 is the number for the idle control unit. Realoem. Com can show you the exploded view and the idle control unit is above the glove box. A non BMW mechanic would probably not catch this, is there anything else mate?
