1986 bmw 325e has over 150,000 miles...new cat/exhaust, new o2 sensor, new alternator....Cranks, but won't start!!!!!
just installed alternator, thought battery was disconnected, it wasn't, grounded out the wires and blew a fuel pump relay....took it to a shop, they found it had spark, but no fuel...... replaced the relay and it started right up.....they let it sit for a few hours, tried to bring it in the shop for the night and it just wouldn't start again....checked codes.....no fault signals..ignition coil pronounced good.....now not getting spark.....mechanic gave up!!!!!

Had the same problem on my 84 528e. A friend came over and pinched off the hose going to the fuel pressure regulator. It started right up and stayed running. He said it was getting too much fuel. I put a hose clamp around it until I could get the part. It started right up everytime.
