Engine Mechanical problem
1996 BMW 323 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 60 miles
was driving along, the battery light came on, the powersteering stoppped, the tempreture gauage went very high, heard a snap then temp guage went back to normal, and drove home with no power steering - a friend suggested the accesory belt snapped, how much do these cost to repair?

Hi there,
if the drive belt has failed it will take only a shot time to replace, you should be looking at around 1/2 Hr labour plus the cost of the belt, don't drive with out the belt as you may do damage with excessive overheating.
