Black smoke coming out of exhaust less power not picking up speed?

Hi,

Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture (too much gas and not enough air). Check the basics first. Make sure the air filter is clean and there are no obstructions in the air induction tube.

Next, if that is all clear, we need to check the fuel pressure. We may have a faulty regulator or a leaking injector. Here is a link that explains how to check. Note: the regulator is integral to the fuel filter on this vehicle.

Also, I need confirmation on the engine size. A 1.6L isn't shown in any of my manuals. See pic below. The remaining pictures are specific to your vehicle for testing fuel pressure.
