Battery light on with new battery, car shuts off while driving

My battery light is on an I got a new battery in my car, I drive my car and it shuts off on me. When I get it jump started, there is a smell of rotten eggs and I do not know if it's coming from the catalytic converter or battery. Either way it stops smelling that way when I start to drive it. Only for the car to shuts off me again while driving it and I do the same thing over. I jump start it and it starts an the smell comes back but doesn't stay. Help please!

Good afternoon,

The battery light is an indication that the charging system is not working.

What is happening is, the battery is going dead while you were driving.

You need to charge the battery, then check the charging system.
