So, it just happened a little bit ago, today she would not start. I put new manifold, a new starter and a new alternator. When she does turn over and start I have to keep my foot on the gas or else, she just shuts off, why?

Hi,

Which manifold was replaced? Also, have you checked for engine vacuum leaks, and has anything been done with the idle air control valve (IAC)?

First, check to make sure there are no leaks. Here is a link that explains how to check for and repair engine vacuum leaks:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

If there are no leaks, the IAC is my next suspect. The IAC is what maintains idle speed. It is located on the throttle body and allows a metered amount of air to enter the engine when the throttle is closed. Without that air, the engine can't run. When you press the throttle, the throttle plate opens and allows air to enter and it can run.

Read through this link. It better explains the IAC in more detail:

If there are no leaks, I would try to service the IAC. Here is a link that explains how it's done:

I attached a pic below showing the location of the IAC on your vehicle.

Let me know what you find or if I can help in any way.

Take care,

Joe
