2001 Audi A4 noise when turn heater on

When I turn my heater on it sounds like a belt is squeeking. I was under the impression my heater was run by a fan. Please advise.
Also I am not sure if the motor is 4 or 6 cyl. It is an Audi A4 1.8 Turbo 2001

Hi there,

This noise is often a dry bearing in the fan motor, they are often a bronze type bush bearing and can be re oiled, but getting it out will be the problem, your local work shop will advise on the cost of doing this. I will have a look at the data base and let you know if there is a rough pricing to do this.
