Chances are you have a vacuum leak. It was a common problem. Check for a leak. If the engine is running, you may hear a hissing sound.
Let me know what you find.

CHECK THE DASH POT ON CARB,THIS LETS THE IDLE ,WHEN COMING TO A STOP, SLOWLY CLOSE THE THROTTLE PLATES THUS KEEPING FROM STALLING,IF OK CHECK AROUND THE THROTTLE SHAFT FOR VACUM LEAK,IF THIS IS IT REBUSH SHAFT OR REPLACE CARB.
