93 Civic DX Electrical Issues

I have a 1993 Civic DX. 1.5L 5 Speed. 162,000 Miles. I have an electrical problem. My speedo intermittently dies, but I am not loosing DC power. I had the battery and alternator checked, no problem. The other day, this happened and the engine actually shut off. I was accelerating so it was very noticable that the engine quit. Without stopping I was able to shut off the ignition, and restart. (I'm a Windows Administrator, so that was the first thing that came to mind, quickly reboot.) Since then, about 4 or 5 more times my speedo drops to 0, then 1 or 2 seconds later comes back on. Any ideas? I'm worried the problem is going to escalate. My mechanic has no idea what that could be and I'm not paying him to trouble shoot. Maybe you can help. Thank you. I'll donate if you answer my question, I'm just new here so I'm not sure about your forum.

I would look to the Vehicle Speed Sensor.

UPDATE - Well since my last post, my car has not died again, which is a good thing. But, the speedo routinely drops to 0 and stays there for sometimes up to 5 mintues. I checked Honda e-store, $120 for the sensor. I removed and blew out the connection to make sure it wasn't wet or anything. Thank you.
