Clutch or transmission

Ok I got a 90 acura integra ls 2 wheel drive and is a manuel transmission with 143000 miles on it and the car one day stop running the mechanic said it was the clutch but I dnt kno if I should believe him so far the engine runs it revs up and everything but then when u put into geat it doesnt move at all u could hit the gas till u blow out the engine but it never moves an inch

is it the transmission or is it the clutch

Please help me

Well can you put it in gear without pusing on the clutch or does it grind if so then the clutch is good
