1990 Acura Integra
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1990 Acura Integra and over the last few weeks the temperature gauge has gone up near the red whil in idle but gone back to normal while accelerating. The last 2 days, within driving half a mile the gauge gets all the way to the red. When I shut the car off and pop the hood, I can see the water boiling in the resvoir tank. What can this be and how can I stop it from over heating?

Hi biggs_charlie,

When the overheating happened, was the radiator fan working?

If not, you should check the motor, fan relay and thermo sensor switch.

I also have a 1990 Integra GS (293k miles) and recently the car started overheating when stopped for more than 3 or 4 minutes. The radiator fans are both stopped, and the fan fuse is blown. The fuse for the relay is OK.

I replaced the fan fuse and the new one blew right away.

Can you give me advice on where to look for a short? There are no obvious shorts near the fans. Also, where is the relay?
