Engine Cooling problem
1990 Acura Integra Automatic 185000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I recently bougt a 90 Integra with about 185000 miles. I notice when I stop to park, a few drips of oil come out but I check the oil level weekly and it's fine. Today, for the first time, when I was in idle at a light, my temperature gauge went up higher than normal, but went back to normal when I accelerate. It did it with the AC on and off. I was low on gas so I filled up and the temperature seemed to stay normal. Also, when I shut the engine off, a fan seems to run for a couple minutes after. Can all of these things be linked or is it a few different problems?

Hi there,

Wash the engine down and check for the oil leak or get your mechanic to do this. As for the cooling system issue, i would fit a new thermostat, check the pressure cap and get the radiator cleaned & flow tested.

Hi biggs_charlie,

Most probably there is a shortage of coolant in the radiator.
