The alternator was replaced a week ago. When I first picked it up it started jerking when going home. I figured it needed a little bit of driving to fix itself. The gas mileage tanked (19.5 down to 14.8) so I tried fuel injector cleaner. After a little bit of driving slow and steady it felt a lot better and didn't idle rough anymore and the MPG went back up to 18.3. But now it drives weird. I have a hard time accelerating when at a stop. I have a much harder time with enough power to go up hill without a lot of resistance. I can drive fine when I get into second and third gear but if I try to drive on a highway at anything above 65 there is resistance. The check engine light is not coming on so I'm really confused where to start. It drives almost like it's in limp mode from what I've read online.

It sounds to me like you're having fuel pump problems. I suggest you get the fuel pressure checked. If it had a fuel filter, I would replace it. Your failure of an engine light coming on indicates also that it's fuel-related issues. The computer won't tell you if your fuel pump's going out or if your pressure is low. So, check the fuel pressure and let us know.

I took it in for a diagnostic to the shop I usually go, and they said fuel pressure is fine but there's a transmission code P17F0.

Thanks for supplying the code. That is a valve body malfunction, did you have the transmission flushed lately or did you do a transmission service yourself? Sometimes this code is set when small piece of metal or some foreign object in the transmission has stuck one of the solenoids open. It isn't that difficult to drop the valve body. I can step you through it. Let me get a little bit more information on that and I'll get back to you.

No, I haven't had anything done recently except the alternator replaced last week. The last time there was work done was 1.5 years ago.

The P17F0 code on a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder is typically related to a transmission issue, which can cause the vehicle to go into limp mode. Limp mode is a safety feature that limits the performance of the vehicle to prevent further damage to the engine or transmission.

For the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, the P17F0 code is often associated with:

CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) Problems: The 2014 Pathfinder uses a CVT, and this particular code often indicates a problem within the transmission. It could be related to the transmission belt, the valve body, or other internal components.

Judder Issue: Some Pathfinder models had issues with transmission judder, which is a sort of shaking or vibrating sensation when driving. This judder problem could trigger the P17F0 code.

Valve Body or Control Module Failure: The valve body is an essential part of the transmission's hydraulic control system. A failure in this area or in the transmission control module can result in this code.

Transmission Fluid: Low, dirty, or incorrect transmission fluid can cause various issues, including triggering diagnostic trouble codes like P17F0.

So, I can tell you these transmissions had big problems with the belt burning up, can you please remove the transmission oil pan to inspect for metal in the pan and also, we can check the fluid condition as well. This can help us determine if the transmission is bad. Here is the fluid type and how to do the job.

Fluid Types

Transmission Fluid

Type. Genuine Nissan CVT fluid NS-3*

*: Use only Genuine NISSAN CVT Fluid NS-3. Using transmission fluid other than Genuine NISSAN CVT Fluid NS-3 will damage the CVT, which is not covered by the NISSAN new vehicle limited warranty.
Capacities

CVT Fluid

Capacity. 9-1/4 qt (8.8L)

Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.
