My brand new Hyundaii Santa Fe 2011 had an oil leak. They initially said it was the oil pressure switch but when they got it in they saw that the leak was from the OP switch housing. They had to pull out the intake manifolds, coolant cross pipe and cooling housing section. They found a "nick" in the OP switch housing deck. They had to replace with a new gasket and reburnish the intake plenum deck. They used flange sealant and replaced all the parts. My question is about how major of a problem this is and what the long term implications are as well as if this really fixed the problem.

If the problem had been fixed correctly, there would be nothing to worry about as the fault was nicked in time.

If the leakage had been very bad and problem was not noticed, you could have damaged the engine when the lubricating system failed due to lack of oil.
