When I turn on the air conditioner, most of the time nothing happens. If I leave it on, five to ten minutes later, the AC will kick in and work fine. I have also noticed that “the hotter the weather gets” the quicker the AC kicks in. What is going on with my AC? Is there a bad sensor or something?

Yep, this can happen when the compressor relay goes out which is part of the IPDM, you should do a CAN scan to confirm the problem but here is how to change it out and a guide to help you with the scan as well. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon here is a video to show you how.
