Engine noise

My son's 2007 Mazda3 (automatic) has a high pitched squeeling noise when he turns it on. It stays on, as long as the engine is running. What might be going on?

Probably a slipping belt or a bad bearing in the belt sytem somewhere. Maybe the alternator bearings or belt idler pulley bearings. Use a tube or auto stethescope to try and find it.
