I need to replace my CD changer component on my 2006 Volvo XC90. There is a faceplate covering the radio and CD clot. How do I remove the faceplate? Is there a tool or special way of removing it?

Before you replace anything, are you replacing it with the original part or are you installing an aftermarket unit? Either way there is software involved for this repair so that there will not be any conflict in the network system. To replace just the unit, put the gear selector in drive with the engine off and emergency brake on. Remove the gear selector trim. Start at the bottom by gently prying up. Once you have it partially up, you will need to feel at the bottom for some plastic release tabs to remove the whole trim piece off. Once removed disconnect the battery but still leave drive. Remove the 2 T25 screws at the bottom of the climate unit. Start to pry gently and start disconnecting the cables. Becarefull not to bend the fiber optic cables and one connector is going to be tough to release so have a small pick handy. Disconnect the green connectors and cigarrete lighter connector. The reason for the battery disconnect is if you remove all those cables with it on, you will set the SRS light and that does not reset with just disconnecting the battery. Once all connectors are off, remove the whole unit and lay it on it's face on a covered table. Behinde it are more T25 screws Once you remove that plastic cover in the back, there will be 2 more T25 screws holding the unit. Once you install everything back, make sure you have software installed so that the unit works properly or you could have issues with it.
