Key won't turn

I have a 2006 saturn ion when I shut off car I took out the key and the steering wheel locked. When I came out I can put the key in but whhel is still locked and the key will not turn

Have you tried to turn the wheel while turning the key?Also is your key worn down?If so do you have another key that isn't worn down to see if that work's?

My son has a 2005 Ion also and has had the same problem for years. He does have to try and turn the wheel while the same time trying the key but sometimes the wheel is locked also. It can take up to 10-15 minutes of trying before it will turn. I am afraid the key will break off at some point.
