There is a heat shield on the inside of the brake rotor that can get bent if it gets hit by a rock or something to that effect.
The lower suspension ball joint sits next to it so it is in between the ball joint and rotor. So, movemnt will push on the shield and make it touch the rotor.
Check for clearance between the heat shield and rotor while paying extra ttention to the lower area near the vall joint.
I have had it happen to me after doing a brake job on my car and it can become frustating. When you pull it away in one place it pulls closer in another. Acouple of tugs and puches eventually gets it.
