Toyota Prius Parking brake Problem

At times, my Prius won't start. The car message says that the parking brake has not engaged and has locked the transmission. It says to go to a flat area and try to start it. I am in my garage-it is flat. I need to release and reset the parking brak for up to 10 minutes before it will work. The Toyota garage does not know what the problem is-do you?

Could be a fault with the parking brake switch circuit that is not working correctly intermittently. When problem occurs, ensure the parking indicator light is turned on.
