At times, my Prius won't start?

At times, my Prius won't start. The car message says that the parking brake has not engaged and has locked the transmission. It says to go to a flat area and try to start it. I am in my garage-it is flat. I need to release and reset the parking brak for up to 10 minutes before it will work. The Toyota garage does not know what the problem is-do you?

More than likely you have an issue with the parking brake switch. Basically, if the vehicle doesn't know that the parking brake is on then it will block the start.

Basically, we need to run through this testing to find out if this is the issue so here is a guide that will help with this testing.
