Peugeot 407. When I turn off the ignition there is a whirring noise under the bonnet this noise continues and then in the morning the battery is dead. Sometimes warning lights come on stop warning lights. It appears something continues to run while the ignition is off and this runs down the battery have to then jump start the car and this again repeats.

More than likely this is a power steering related issue. However, there are a number of things that we need to run through in order to find if there is another issue.

Here is a guide that will help with this:

If we confirm this is a power steering issue then we need to replace the pump. Unfortunately we don't have a manual on this vehicle so we are going to have to rely on these guides that will help with this replacement:

Please run through this material and let us know what questions you have.

Thanks

9 times out of 10 its a battery issue, not the power steering pump, low battery means on board computer is not telling everything else to behave properly. Try a new battery 1st.

Thanks Rob. That is great info and a great suggestion that is easily overlooked.

Here is a guide that will show how to load test it which will prove out a battery issue and save a replacement as they are not the cheapest batteries out there.

Thanks again and please jump in on other issues that you see. Thanks for coming to 2CarPros.
