I have a 2005 dodge neon and I jus went to the salvage yard to get my battery because my old one went out well I put the recent battery in but I accidently put it in wrong like the wrong cables on positive and negative (yes I am a female but im single so no men were around) I tryed to start my car the post on the battery cable sparked and then there was smoke I imediatly turned my car off switched the cables to there correct location and tried starting it but it will only make a clicking sound and on the dash board it says fuse, I went to auto zone the guy said it sounds like its the main fuse (fusiable link) and told me to get the fuse from under the hood from the fuse box well I have found two fuse boxes and neither of them have the main fuse in there so my question is where would my main fuse be located. I also had brought the new battery for him to look at and he said it needed chargin, what could be wrong? Please help me.

There is a fusible link @ the starter motor. Thid might have gone up in smoke. Its a red wire off the starter that runs to the alternator then check the fuse # 9 in the power distribution box under the hood near the battery its a 30a. I would checl all of them. Bad things happen when you cross neg and pos @ the battery
