This sounds like you have a problem with the temperature blend door cable that has gone bad or broken which is common. Here is a guide to help confirm the problem.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-air-conditioner-not-working-or-is-weak

and this will show you what you are in for when changing the cable out.

Here is a what it will be like on your car (below).

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

Air Conditioning problem
2004 Chevy Cavalier Automatic 113000 miles

When I start my car, the air does NOT get cool. Once I get driving it slowly cools up then if I stop at a red light, the air gets very warm! I had my freon thing checked with the gauge and its fine. What else could be wrong with it? I remember last year I never had this problem and whether I was sitting or not, it was always cold. Could you please help me? Thanks.

How do you know it's full? Did a professional check it or just a DIY guy or autoparts person. It could be anything fro m a compressor going bad to the orfice being partially clogged. You could also have a pressure switch knocking it off when it comes to an idle.

(2004 Chevy Cav ) While in park, the ac blows warm air, but I can hear what sounds like a motor run and cut on/off every few seconds. While I am driving though, it starts to blow cold air. Any idea what this may be, I added a can of 134-a(small can) and still same problem. Please help me =)

This might be your compressor. If you overcharged the system this could happen. What was the PSI after you added the r134?

Hello, the air conditioner is not working properly. When I turn it on, the car sounds like it's trying to die on me but it hasn't actually died on me yet. It occasionally blows cold air but mostly warmer air. I am trying to keep it off as much as possible but with the heat, it's difficult. I had a friend that put something in the coolant and it said on the gage, it was over in the danger level. Not sure what that means either. Any ideas as to what it could be?

It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak under the hood near the engine that feeds the HVAC system. It will be a small line like the one in this guide.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/air-vents-stay-in-the-defrost-position

Lift the hood and use a flashlight to see if you can find the vacuum feed line to make sure it is working. Also, you can remove the vacuum line for the recirculation blend door actuator to see if vacuum is present when the engine running, here is the actuator location in the images below. Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
