Remote entry issue

If I don't touch my car for an hour, the remote entry will not work. However, if I walk up and open the door, the remote entry works fine. I replaced the batteries and cleaned the remotes when it first starting happening, but it didn't get any better.

I don't really know where the trouble-shooting goes from there. What are the next likely culprits?

No, sorry. It doesn't work even up close, until I open the door manually, then the remote will function normally until the car is left alone for an hour. This happens whether the doors are locked or not. And, it happens whether I use the remote to lock the doors or the door button.
Thanks, Tom

So do you ever have a problem with your gas gauge not working power door lock's inop inside light's crank no start? The whole keyless entry system is your remote's and your body control module.

The gas gauge works fine, occasionally the speedometer will jump around a little bit, though.
