I'm planning to buy an used 2003 Accord EX from a dealer who got it from an auction. The car has around 107k on it. I did a full inspection with firestone and they said that both brakes, two tyres and spark plug needs to be changed. To fix all these firestone quoted $1000 approx. Apart from that the engine dash light is on(is this is a serious issue?). I believe the timing belt, water pump and such things needs to be changed. The interior of the car is in good condition and the exterior has some minor scratches. The dealer is asking for $6900. I would like to know if it is worth the money and how much will I have to spend totally for all these? Kindly help

When they did the inspection did they not run a diagnostic on it to find out why it was on ? But if it's nothing serious 6,900 is a good deal.

Hey Thanks for the reply. They did not run a diagnostic. I think i'll take it for a diagnostic test and then decide whether to buy it or not.

Also if your looking for a good deal on tires go to walmart instead Firestone will probably charge a Pretty Penny. Is there a reason why the spark plugs need replaced is it running rough? Also take it to Autozone and have them plug it up to a computer they will do it for free.

That seems like a high price with that many miles for a 8 year old Honda. If the light is on, many things could cause it. Make sure to have it scanned to identify what turned it on. Also, check KBB.com to see the vehicle's value.
