My 2003 Dodge Caravan SXT 3.3L, 6 cylinder will turn over but won't fire. No symptoms or engine light just turned a corner and it wouldn't accelerate, acted like it was fuel starved but fuel pump is working and we sprayed starting fluid into the engine and it wouldn't fire still but you could smell gas was getting to the engine and can hear the fuel pump is working. We replaced the plugs, wired and coil pack...still turning over but not firing...thinking maybe the crankshaft sensor might have gone out??? Any other ideas?

Hello,

It sounds like you might have a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When you have a faulty crank sensor the engine will not produce spark to the plugs.
Due to engine vibration, heat and the constant generation of electromagnetic energy being produced internal windings can become brittle and break causing a direct or intermittent short circuit of the sensor which will cause the engine to stall.
This failure may or may not cause the check engine light to come on and set a trouble code for this problem.

Here are some helpful articles on crank sensor:

I have attached the diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
