I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport with 135,500 miles and it has been burning oil. Not leaking any oil, but after an oil change, the dipstick will be dry in a couple of weeks. I add oil about once a week. It will also upon occasion idle rough at a stop light, but then recovers then is fine. Also, it is a V6 engine, but is very sluggish, can you tell me what are the possible causes and what will be involved in repairing?

At least 80 % of oil consumptions are due to bad valve seals and replacement of these seals requires either the heads to be removed or by means of using regulated compressed air to keep the valesin position when the valve springs are removed to get at the seals.
