Transmission problems

I have a 2002 Ford Escape with a 5 speed manual transmission and it will not stay in 5th gear past 60 mph

Check the shifting linkage and adjust if neccessary, may not be going all the way in gear. Or there could be something wrong with the transmission. Check the linkage first
